The forward visibility in the NG Saabs and most other newer (than the Classics) is worse than the Classic. Think back again, when you sat in the Classic did you notice how much you could see out the front versus the NG or even an Accord or Camry? Guess what, the Classic has thinner pillars and the big, curved windshield, while the NG has a flat windshield. That makes all the difference in the world when it comes to front visibility.
