Volvo took control of DAF in 1975 and the DAF 66 became Volvo 66. I remember well the Volvo 343 (1976) which had CVT in the beginning, but only started to sell well when Volvo introduced a manual transmission. However, because of the CVT, that car had kind of a staid OAP image. Johannes
