I think what I intend to try is the following: Since you only need to bolster up the back lining behind the sun-roof, a two foot front-to-back piece of solid but bendy material should do it. Let it just curve up to follow the contour of the inside of the roof and then fix the sides to the existing lining where the window starts. I was thinking of some plastic sheeting similar in colour to the lining. Should hold the lining up, save the day for pence, and no need to take the whole lining out. My SAAB isn't a classic - just a road car, and only I drive it.
