Well, you don't mention anything about a year or model, but... the spark plugs are used as sensors for the engine management system. Their properties are carefully mapped and understood by the system. By changing to other than the approved NGK plugs that the car is designed for, you're basically replacing a known set of elecrical components, with some of a very different behavior. There's a good reason why the whole car is full of Bosch parts and yet Saab uses NGK for the spark plugs...go get some NGKs of the right variety, and all will be well. Dave Hinz
