Subject: 1999 9-5 heater box linkage broken

Our 1999 9-5 has no heat in the drivers side and low heat on the passenger side. I have been able to milk out some heat by using the recirculate option, but, not enough to really be comfortable. I have been told by the dealer this is broken linkage inside the heater box and gutting the dash assembly to R/R the linkage is the only answer. This would be about 14 hours of mechanic time plus the parts. Car is past warranty by 10k miles. Has anyone experienced this and how did you fix it? Thanks Pete
