Mechanical, body, features etc. I think there were some manual tranny issues with a year or two. I don't recall all the details, but I think it was 5th gear issues and mostly with people who push their cars hard. Ask the local Saab dealer service department (not Sales). They are usually pretty honest. The 17" wheels are often bent a bit and sometimes need repair or replacement in areas with rough roads (a problem on a lot of cars with large alloy wheels and minimal sidewalls these days). You can buy a full set of aftermarket wheels that match the Viggen wheels (from the OEM) for a reasonable price if you need them. They are expensive when bought from Saab. >2) Were there any major changes across model years 2000-2002? I have been >targeting 2001's so far. AFAIR, there were very few changes in the 9~3 from '98 to '02 aside from a few engine HP selections. The Viggen has the 2.3 230Hp motor, the body dress panels, and some minor interior changes, the seats being the biggest difference. >3) Do these cars go in the snow? Saabs really go in the snow. The Viggen will need a good set of ultra high performance all season tires or snows. If you use snow tires you can pull out stuck SUV's. The HP doesn't matter as long as you keep your foot out of it. That is very easy to do with a turbo. Bob
