Salutations: Hey bother Grunff - no bad luck or real rants about it - here in Nova Scotia the fact the wheels are still in anyway attached to the car at 300,000km is a frank testament to the existence of a loving god and a good supplier year at the factory.. It's one of the reasons I wish I could rig an old 900 A-Arm system into the front end when I day dream.. But - the pwob was the way it sprung off the retaining plate when it happened.. It failed because it had spread out enough on the lower coil to slip off and it came round hard enough when as it came down to punch two perfect holes through the plastic wheel well with the sharp end - but - luckily caught squarely on the brake line tab instead of clipping the brake line outright and jamming into the tire sidewall that concerned me.. There is not a lot of room for failure in there between the strut and inner tire sidewall to my mind (although I never looked at it closely before).. If I do land a steady job again and end up with some extra cash - I may well trick this 9000 up a bit instead of letting it rot itself out as usually - as I've really come to like the 89 9000 in general.. It's a mistake of course - you gotta being willing to put a round between the headlights when Trigger breaks a leg - but I'm not so sure that the '89 isn't a really basically brilliant platform in a long line of fairly good platforms from SAAB.. Is it 'The One' - if you know what I mean.. I did a '79 Z1R with a Rickmann kit for exactly the same reason after rat biking through several once nice motorcycles.. I think I'll look around at safety clip on the front springs and struts if I do fix her up - as I would want to go for fat-boy rally custom and would be thusly hauling her down some potentially rough roads any given Sunday.. :) .. -- J Dexter - webmaster - http://www.dexterdyne.org/ all tunes - no cookies no subscription no weather no ads no news no phone in - RealAudio 8+ Required - all the Time Radio Free Dexterdyne Top Tune o'be-do-da-day Bobby Darin - Beyond the Sea http://www.dexterdyne.org/888/012.RAM Grunff wrote: > > Dexter J wrote: > > > Had I been plowing down the highway (or even around the city) - it could > > well have been a very, very serious event rather than an amusing foot > > note.. > > I had a 9000 front spring break at 30mph.
