The are an ultra high performance all season tire. I bought them because the reviews were outstanding on them by everyone who tried them - including the noise issue. I have to say that they are excellent. Nice handling, smooth, high wear rating, and very quiet. They actually seems to absorb road noise and bumps rather than transmit it. Now, the qualifier: All directional tires (and these are) tend to get noisier as they wear. The reason is that the blocks tend to wear on the front edge and not the back. You can't really flip them around in the other direction (like a non directional tire). So, it remains to be seen if these will get noisier with time. If you want a really quiet tire, buy something non directional. Always read the reviews at tirerack.com to get user input. There are lots more choices if you want a summer only tires. Bob
