Subject: Re: 1999 9-5 heater box linkage broken

Pete, The mechanical failure you describe appears to happen to many pre-2000 Saab 9-5's. A friend of mine had his one fixed last year (Replace heater box at a cost of $2500). He tried Saab Sweden to own up it is manufacturing failure, but they say this is not their problem. I think it is their problem, but they are reluctant to admit it. No wonder that Saab is slowly but surely going down the drain. This attitude towards customers does not pay off in the long run. Currently my own 9-5 has developed the same problem. I have not heared of any quick fixes. I think I'll foot the bill because the 9-5 remains a fine car to drive.
