Subject: Re: some questions regarding 9000

Hi Emmanuel, I also had to change by reverse light switch when I bought my 1989 9000 last May. It is easy, but a little awkward. If you have an automatic transmission, I can't help you, but on a manual transmission, it is located under the battery, on the end plate ofthe transmission. The Haynes manual's procedure is: Disconnect battery negative cable and position it away from the terminal. Unplug the wiring harness from the reversing light switch at the connector. Unscrew the switch using a wrench (19 mm, I think). Recover any washers that are that may be fitted as they are necessary to ensure the correct clearance when refitting the new switch. (I did not have any washers.) About the mystery switch under the rear fog light switch, if it has numbers on it from zero to 3 it is the headlight beam-length adjuster switch. It was optional equipment -- at least here in Canada. Otherwise it is the dimmer switch for the instrument panel illumination. About the repair manual, I think that only the UK-spec Haynes is available - - that is what I bought. I hope this helps -- and good luck with your new Saab -- they are great automobiles!
