The motor can die, the gears can get trashed, etc. If it's not too bad - it was just grinding for a little while and the gears are still OK - it can be fixed. There's even a TSB to do it. Was it making grinding noises and now the tonneau cover won't move up ? How long was it making grinding noises ? We're you a bad boy and you waited a long time before fixing it ? Is the motor out of the car ? Are you mechanically inclined ? Post some more details of your problems and capabilities. If it is not out of the car and you can do some mechanical work, le me know. I suggest you DO NOT remove it from the car yourself until we give you some advice. You can easily add big $'s to your repair bill. Post first. Bob
