Subject: Re: Automatic Tranny Question

Thanks for the advice. My 9000 tranny does take a few seconds to engage when I put in Drive so maybe a belt is slipping. I'll get it checked ASAP. Mark "175k is one clue. ;-). The 2.0L aren't as hard on the tranny as the 2.3L from what I hear. The tranny should shift crisp but not hard. The fluid should not smell burnt. What is yours doing? Sometimes they improve with a fluid change and filter. My dad's had the pan removed and some metal bits removed that were laying in the pan. It has been fine ever since, though. That was 4 years ago or more. KeithG "MarkC wrote: I just bought an '87 9000S with 125K. What are some of the warning signs to heed when the automatic transmissions are in the beginning stages of failure? Thanks, Mark
