Subject: Re: Amazingly Quick Heater In My '87 9000

Thanks for informing me of this Grunff. I wish that they would design all vehicles to heat up this fast then people wouldn't have to let them warm up for 15 minutes (or more) in the winter. Did they design the 900 Classic cooling system differently because the heating system in my 9000 is much better than in my '89 900. ` Mark "MarkC wrote: I just can't believe how quickly the heater heats up in my '87 9000S (non-turbo just bought it with 125K). I've never owned a car with a heater that provides heat in a matter of minutes. Is it normal for this vintage or does it indicate a problem with the cooling system? Thanks for any advice, It's normal. When the thermostat is closed (engine cold), all the heat from the engine goes into heating up the block, the coolant in the block, and the heater matrix (core). SHouldn't take more than 3 minutes running before the matrix is nice and hot. -- Grunff
