I think your sender unit incorparates both the sender for the gauge and also the switch for the warning light, both of which are grounded through the frame of the sender. My car has just a simple oil pressure switch at that location with a single blue wire. If yours has a blue wire at the sender you might like to disconnect this wire and see if your oil pressure light goes out to confirm. The gauge is wired as follows : White wire from fuse to gauge terminal +. Red wire from gauge terminal G to terminal G on sender. Blue wire to sender terminal WK. The G terminal on the gauge is connected to ground via a variable resistance in the sender that alters the current through the gauge. As the gauge goes right across when both wires are disconnected from the sender I reckon your problem is that the red wire is shorted to ground somewhere. -- Regards, John Hudson Brisbane Australia, 900i 16V 1993
