Not forgetting the loose A/C bolts, the unconnected earth strap on the D.I. cartridge, the defininte presence of hydrocarbons in the coolant post head gasket change (after two flushes). Not a happy bunny! > Is this your regular mechanic, or someone new? Regular. Just in case, I took a trip to look at a couple of 9000's today. First one was a 1990 turbo 16v. Not bad for 900 quid but no A/C and with a sunroof my head was on the slightly dropped ceiling. Second one (£1200) had some serious rust at the front of the offside rear door which was a shame. Pretty tidy but looked like a weeping head gasket even though the owner said it had been changed a couple of years prior, couldn't show it in the maintenance paperwork. Worst bit was when I took it for a drive. Unless I was absolutely light footed, the real time bar graph showed fuel consumption of between 15 to 20/25 mpg. The average display when I selected it showed 19mpg which seemed a bit on the low side. Definitely wasn't happy with that at all. Walked away from both but I feel that my car will be returned in a sick mode and will be forced to do something. David.
