Subject: Re: Tire Suggestions for 9KT

Thanks for the responses. I always run fast - that is, where it's safe. My car just turned 15 years old, and my Saab tech opined several months ago that it is in better shape than many 3 year old cars that come in. I keep it aligned, though it needs it now, due to that defective Dunlop Sport 9000 tire shaking. And contrary to suggestion, these tires have never had the side walls rubbed against a curb, or any other object. And it's not my wheels - I have the 15" OEM wheels fitted with snow tires. But my summer wheels are 16" Saab accessory wheels, and I have 8 of those (man. by Ronel). The Dunlops were drop-shipped from Tirerack to a Benz & BMW service place, and all 8 wheels were inspected and tested for balance, and then the best 4 picked, and results were rock-solid steady I do run my summer tires with above normal air pressure: 42 lbs. all the way around (cold). But have done so for 15 years, on Michelin XGTV, XGTZ, the aforementioned Pirellis, and the Dunlops. I read with interest Uncle Bob's recent post about being careful to not put much air in the tires, as the pressure increases as driven. With all due deference to Bob, I think max pressure is cold pressure, but in any event those Dunlops had max rating of 50 lbs. My point in all this is that it is neither my car, nor my driving that is causing the sidewalls to go. It appears more likely that I've gotten tires with manufacturing and/or design defects. Moreover, cords do slip within tires -- if I'm not mistaken, that is precisely what was happening with the Bridgestones involved in the SUV rollovers. I think I might try the Kumho's On Tue, 03 Jun 2003 12:56:50 GMT, "Fred W." iaindv43qrk8amt7na6fss52kpr8m79ah9nopsamcom... >> Any tire suggestions for my 9KT?
