It's likely that the cause of the problem is a breakdown in the conductive
foam or glue that is used to hold the flex to the PCB. Applying pressure
will make the problem go away for a while but (1) the foam that is used to
apply pressure will eventually compress under vibration and pressure and (2)
the contacts are still not optimal and will likely get worse.
the question is how long that will take. If it takes 1 year, then it's
probably bad. If it takes 30 years, who cares.
I'm going to try the foam solution for my SID, but I was thinking of
investigating a more permanent solution
