The clicking device is the APC solenoid, and has nothing to do with your brake failure. It's functioning as it should. The failure you describe can only really be caused by a failing master cylinder. It *will* happen again, with increasing frequency. In my young, foolish and broke college days, I drove a 900 for two weeks with a failing master cylinder, and every time it let go it was scarrier than the last. I was very lucky. I would advise you not to drive the car as it is. You need to replace the master cylinder. This is an easy job, which would take someone who knows what they're doing 1-2 hours max, and that includes bleeding the brakes. The new cylinder should cost around £70 (US$110). -- Grunff
