When the electric fan kicks in, does the temp gauge stop climbing? If yes, then it's perfectly normal. They will very often kick in at 2/3 - 3/4 of max on the gauge. If you live in a hot climate, it may be worth changing your fan thermo switch to a lower temperature one (and your thermostat while your're at it). Both items are very cheap (a few £/$), and take no more than half an hour to change. You should be able to get 82C ones fairly easily wherever you are. -- Grunff
