The car is a 9-5 SE 2.3 85,000 miles 1998. I took both > wheels off and inspected the discs. Yes they are rusty on the surface , but > that's all. I cannot see that replacement is necessary - as the car passed > it's MOT test OK and the scoring / depth of the discs are well within spec. > Can anyone give me advice on this please. > If a dealer told me that, I would want the rest of the braking system sorted, the only way for rust to form on the disc is for the pad to not be scraping it off. Surface coatings of rust can form overnight on a wet period/humid period. Normally scrapes off. if they are in manufacturers specs, what is a manufacturers dealer doing tellign you to change them. Contact Saab, and complain about a shoddy dealer. -- Carl Robson (The poster formerly known as Skodapilot) http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
