Before you go to far, how many miles do you have ? The upper idler pulley is known to wear in these cars. I recommend replacement at 45-50K miles, since I've seen a lot of folks loose them after 50K. When it goes, you stop and wait for a tow truck. You won't destroy anything in the engine, but you will stop. If you can't find anything in the records about the "upper idler pulley" being replaced, then replace it and the serpentine belt as soon as you have a chance. The pulley costs $38 at the dealer, the belt is about the same. Some guys replace the lower idler pulley too but it is a PITA job and I've never heard of one going bad on the road, so I don't worry about it. About a half hour job if you pay someone to do it. If you are a DIY guy, you'll want a Haynes manual. For some strange reason, you can't buy them in the USA. But, you can order one from http://www.cybertroll.com. About $28. Bob
