Sounds like you will need to replace front rotors and pads. These days the rotors are designed to wear out in combination with the pads - so if your car has done 60k to 80k miles (depending on driving style) and the rotors are original, then it is highly likely that they need replacing. Best thing is to take the wheels off and look at the general condition. Check the depth of wear of both rotor and pad and look for signs of scoring. Pad thickness should not be below 5mm and grooving in the disc limited. Cost is about $200 for parts or $500 if done professionally.
