Sounds like you've got an airleak somewhere in the intake system, causing a lean mixture. First place i would look is the hose from the EVAP valve, on the RH inner wing by the top belt pulley, to inlet manifold hose (looking at the engine from the front, back left of the inlet manifold. There is an 'elbow' about 2" long on the end and it usually splits.
