I owned an '88 Saab turbo, Have driven the new Saabs and my son has a '99 Saab 9.3. Fit and finish actually better on the VW's than his 99 but not better than the newest Saabs. My Jetta handles better than the Saabs but again the "03 Saab is another matter. I'd say try the Jetta (or Passat if you need more room) for a lower cost option or go to the newer 03 Saab if you like a Saab with taut handling. IMHO Pete
