I have the same problem on my 1996 900SE, and I'm being quoted $1,500 (parts and labor) from the Saab specialist (not a dealer) and $1,200 from the generic repair shop. $900 is the cost of the part, I'm told, but it appears from a quick check on the Internet that it may be possible to get an evaporator more cheaply. I'll be interested to hear what people say. Do evaporators on other cars cost this much?
