My 78 99 Turbo hatch was the ONLY SAAB Hatch that I've ever liked the looks of, and that was due in large part to the black SAAB sun louvre on the rear glass, and the wing. Otherwise, I've stuck with the non-hatches all of my life. > I'm comfortable with the classic 900, and with the older cars, but never > had a 99. What problem areas should I look for? Same, except, as mentioned: water pump. Just convert it to electric BEFORE it becomes a problem. After it's a problem, it is a real PITA to get that cover off. Rust along the A-frame mounting bolts (what did mine in eventually), as well as along the typical jacking and mounting places. Clogged cooler. easy enough to clean, and you already know about the turbo systems. so, do an overall rust and mechanicals check - make sure to let it warm up to check for headgasket and turbo issues, make sure the APC is working, etc etc. -- Interested in Computer Architecture, specifically Itanium, from a Programmer's Perspective? http://vig.prenhall.com/catalog/academic/product/1,4096,0131013726,00.html
