He is talking about the automatic setting of the clock via the radio (RDS=radio data system). I donĄt wether you are from the UK or the USA. As far as I know RDS does not exist in the USA, does it?? Normally you just press the two buttons and the clock will syncronize itself via the radio (as mentioned in the manual). That is enough. Your description is the manual setting.
