Since you canĄt light any big distance in fog (due to the small water droplets which spread the light in any direction each time the light hits one) you can also shut down the driving light (not talking of high beam). Switch on the fog lights and at the same time select parking light. If the light is switched off you canĄt select the fog lights (which makes sense due to the blinding of fog lights to incoming traffic even in daytime). IĄm not sure wether it works with US-cars (DRL). In my currently 2001 9-3 DRL can be switched off with the fuse 15. Is DRL mandatory in the US (I know in Canada; in Europe it depends on the country).
