Subject: Front end clunking over bumps

Saab: '86 900 hatchback, 84k miles (mostly low speed, short trips) I've got a noticible clunk comming from the front end going over moderate bumps. It used to occur only when going over bumps while turning, and the noise was more metalic. Now going straight there is a noise and it is a more solid thump. I thought the first was due to warn shock bushings, now I am wondering if the new sound is the same problem getting worse or a new one (motor mounts?). How can I tell (where to look and what to look for) or should I get it checked. What ever the source, is it ok to continue driving (again for short trips at low speeds.) Thanks --PaKob
