The small nylon strap connects to a latch mechanism. If you want, I can take a digital picture of the mechanism and e-mail it to you. The strap either slid down between the seat cushion or it was cut/broke off. Looking at the mechanism, it looking challenging to release the latch without the strap. Perhaps a Saab technician knows a trick to release it without the strap.
