Pete, We have a '95 900S 2.3 na and a '01 9-5 wagon 2.3 lpt. AFAIK the timing chain is never replaced as part of regular preventative maintenance. The timing BELTS in the GM V6's needed replacement every 30K mi. but you are certainly not considering one of them, right! ;-) I don't know about the 'optic' headlights. Here in the US the 'early' style 9-5's were only available with incandescent bulb headlights, just like the ones in your 900S, only different and brighter bulbs. HID's are an option here on the new style 9-5's. You'll love the 9-5 after the 900. Good Luck!
