My reaction to the Dutch language post > should be seen as a attempt to correct an undesirable trend as I see it. It was probably meant in a rhetorical sense. I know there are sanctions for abuse and such like, but I wasn't considering that territory, only matters of preferences. I have a natural aversion against social control, fashion police, thought police and such like. I follow my own instincts and interacts mostly on my own terms. E.g. If I'll tell you what I want to hear, you'll tell me only that - life would be boring. My background and upbringing is essentially pluralistic. > Predictably, many members (usenet is no club either though), disagreed > with me, in my view because they don't see the risk of a deteriorating > group. A ng may have highs and lows, depending on the attendance. Even this in Saab group I've seen good people come and go, others are more persistent. It seems to work without 'social control'. Obnoxious people can be a pain, but they always have short attention span and move on to other places. 'Don't feed the troll' is good advice. > The language thing is one of my pet-peeves. I newsgroup like alt.autos.saab is nice when it happens, and we have many excellent specialists at the moment, but you can't make it happen by decree. Johannes
