You may just need to have the SRS light reset. If the battery was disconnected when the key was in the on position it may cause your SRS light to stay on. At least that's what happened with my 1990 900S. I did have to take it to a dealer to get it reset. Hope that's your problem...sure would be a cheaper fix.
