I've not much experience of the latter, other than to say I've been pleased with the Gunson tools that I've bought. If we're talking in-car gauges, I'd say VDO - especially as you're in north America and seemingly would have the full range available. I've been very pleased with the Racetech gauges that I've bought - very little needle bounce and consistent readings.
