In which case, as I understand it there are two types, both of which have two terminations on the bottom of the bulb. One type has the locating pins opposite each other, the other has them slightly offset. In both cases, the pins are vertically misaligned too. Sounds to me like the bulb is forced in the wrong way round so that your tail light power is connected to the stop light terminal. I see this all the time. David.
