Subject: Tip of the day: how to measure opening pressure of waste gate...

I've been experiencing some weird lack of boost with my '99 9-3 FPT, and I was asked to check what kind of pressure is needed to open the turbo waste gate. So, I disconnected the hose that goes from magnetic boost control valve to waste gate and tried to blow in it. Well, clearly my lungs were not able to generate enough pressure. Then I remembered I have some bicycle tubes (w/ similar valve to my car tyres) and a bicycle pump with pressure gauge. So, I cut the valve out from one of the tubes, and used a knife to cut out just a little bit of rubber from valve stem. It made perfect fitting into hose I disconnected. Then I just used my bicycle pump to pressurize the hose and I was able to check who waste gate rod moved according to pressure! I was quite proud of myseld, I have to admit :) BR:Z
