Had some noises from this source some years back and started to investigate. The A/C compressor is not made by Saab, so if you go to a Saab garage, they will replace the whole thing as one unit. A better bet is therefore to go to a generic A/C specialist. It is quite an expensive part to mess with, so I decided to leave it. The noise has since disappeared, possibly due to a belt change, I'm not sure.
