Doit it rattle > when knocked? Looked at the air filter when I first bought the car ( only 4000 miles back ) to see if it needed replacing. It was very clean. No idea about the cat. It passed the emissions test, also about 4000 miles back, fine ( when this problem was already there ) so it seems to be working ok. I assume you're thinking back pressure ? I've no idea of the history at all. Graham
