I thought the wastegate was left _open_ when the actuator was disconnected (i.e., all the precious engine fumes bypass the turbo). My '95 9K LPT experienced exactly this (felt 'ordinarily aspired' and lacked power). Looking first here in the NG and then under the turbo conformed the diagnosis: locking pin gone, rod disconnected. regards Per
