Subject: OT - Charging systems

An OT info. req: Suspect this might be a generic car problem: have a '90 Ford Thunderbird; 2 days ago, the battery needed a jump. After jump, checked, and came up with ~11.5 volts; hooked trickle charger, and one day later, get a ~9.5 volt reading, + a warm alternator, as if there is a bleed back. Any ideas/theories what's going on?
