Saab has always used 3rd party turbo's:

Garrett on the "regular" turbo cars. And Mitsubishi on the highperformance 
(Aero/Viggen) cars. The Mitsu turbo's are a much better turbo.

Luckily the 2004 9-3 Aero has a Mitsu: TD04HL-15T
