Subject: 2001 9-5 Engine Issue

Hello everybody - I recently purchased a 2001 9-5 4-cyl, auto-trans (in late Dec 2004). I'd appreciate it if anyone with firsthand experience or knowledge of my problem can help me make sure my mechanic does the right thing: The car ran great until it started getting hot here in the Northeast USA in June of this year. Then is started emitting a huge belch of burnt gasoline/oil when the ignition was turned on when - it was warm outside ( > 75 degrees F) - the car had not been running for a while (no belch of smoke when the car had been running within a hour or more) - runs ok otherwise - the problem seems to be getting worse - ie a bigger smoke belch at lower ambient air temps. Its gotten noticably worse in the last two months. If youz guys( or gals) can offer me advise on how to diagnose - fix the problem, I (a first time SAAB owner) would be much obliged. Thanks Ted Lechman
