In article <>,=20 says... > Some gas stations in my area have posted signs that show the cost of=20 > federal and state taxes per gallon. I think it's a good tactic. =20 >=20 Unfortunatley, in the UK, it is I think illegal for a garage to display=20 how the tax on fuel is Broken down. You have the base of the raw fuel price. You have VAT (sales tax) on the fuel. You have customs duty (another tax) on the fuel. You have VAT on the Customs duty (a tax on a tax). They can tell you how much VAT is added to the total value on a reciept.=20 that is so that the reciept can can be used either for expenses, or for=20 a business to claim the VAT back. But they aren't allowed to tell you that your average =A30.879GBP litre of= =20 fuel is broken down roughly as 1 litre of fuel=09=09=A30.25GBP (retail including profit) VAT on 1 litre fuel=09=09=A30.08GBP Duty on 1 litre fuel=09=09=A30.45GBP VAT on Duty on 1 litre fuel=09=A30.09GBP total=09=09=09=09=A30.87GBP And in a lot of places it is far higher than than. --=20 Carl Robson Car PC Build starts again.
