If you really want to disable this functionality, the easiest way to do it is by fitting a non-OEM thermostat. This will open in the normal manner, but not go as far as blocking the heater core port at the higher temperature. Where you get one depends on where you are - in the UK, a Unipart thermostat of the correct size would do the job. -- Grunff
