Subject: 95 sudden loss of power

Hi.Havn't used a group before! I have an S reg 95 with 100000 on the clock. Its been serviced and had a new turbo 18 months ago.Last Nov I had a total power failure going up a hill. The engine would not restart, turning very slowly as though the battery was flat.Called the RAC and by the time they got to us the battery had built up enough juice to start the engine. It was taken to my local garage who checked everything(I suspected the cat). They flushed the oil etc but found nothing.Battery seemed ok. Car was doing fine until Thursday when it cut out again! Out come the RAC and it started with a jump, though again battery seemed to be recovering as we waited.Sadly the engine sounded like it contained a bag of nails!! To my ear it sounds top end.Cam shaft? It's sitting on the drive at the moment. The engine starts but it has the death rattle. Sorry this has turned into a book rather than a message. Anyone got any ideas or had similar problems? Answers gratefully received. Thanks Al
