However, if the pads are known to be good, the squealing can be caused by the pads becoming glazed through lots of town driving and gentle braking. This glaze can be removed by some firm or hard braking from (say) 60 mph down to zero. Pick a straight dry road, and repeat the process two or three times. Remember to check your mirror first though! The noise can also be caused by a piece of gravel trapped between the caliper and disc, though this tends to produce a grinding noise rather than a squeal.
