and while I don't know if they made a huge difference, the results seemed to be a little supportive of their relevance.
Both cars (87 tbo 92 S) were on original injectors before the pre-test tuneup and replacement (Ford Motorsports 24#). The 92 exited the test with readouts in the halves of maximum allowed numbers (except the NOX which was 2ppm on the 15mph test and 1ppm on the 25).
The cars also used one of the new CA-compliant converters. I bet it played a big role.
I first guessed your FPR until you mentioned your check.
Rich-smelling exhaust would seem a strong indicator of a problem. Seems like catalytic converter and injectors (maybe timing?) are last main areas.
