This car has been through a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration over the last three years. I bought this car from a dealer auctioning his entire SAAB dealership. This was his car, completely original. The only thing I did not do was paint the car, it had been painted in 2009 and still looks fantastic with only a few minor defects, Immediately after I purchased the car the clutch hydraulics failed. That's when the "project creep" set in... while I'm here I might as well... you get the idea. So I removed the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, interior, etc. The engine was overhauled with .030 oversize pistons, several new valves, new bearings, Weber 2bbl, steel timing gears, fan delete. The transmission went to Ft Dodge where Tom Donney's shop overhauled it. New clutch hydraulics, brake hydraulics, new brake lines, rotors, pads, new suspension bushings, rod ends, shocks. All hardware that was reused was cad-plated. New electrical relays, custom gauge cluster, HID headlights and other lighting upgrades. Too much to list. Tom Donney saw the car while it was disassembled and he told me I had one of the finest Sonett III's in the country.

Well restored solid car. No Apparent rust. New Weber ich just installed. Car
drives well, everything works as it should. Total mileage is unknown. New
tasteful custom interior in grey fabric. 5 Soccerball wheels with good tires.
Can supply more photos and detailed info if required. Large history file with a
lot of early mechanical work done by Bud Clark. Car is located in rural Nova
Scotia but easy access to either Maine or Halifax for overseas shipping. It is
my 14th SAAB and was an 80th birthday present a few years ago - so it's time for
a new owner to exercise this great car. I would like to move it out of my garage
so make me a fair offer - after I have sent you a lot more information.

Project Car-Looking to find a new home for this project car from an estate. Obviously needs a lot of work, so am selling as-is, parts car. I don't know if will start or run. Car is untested. I expect that you would need a trailer to remove the car. There are some extra parts including a rear panel and a passenger side door that are included. There is also an engine and transmission that may be from a similar car or may have been intended to be installed in the car. The engine block is one a mechanics engine lift. The transmission is located on a small dolly. I also have some parts, such as the instrument panel, new side mirrors and the original owners manual. All is included. I have the title for the car and will sign as personal representative. If you are interested in this 1971 Saab Sonett project car, please call to make an offer.

SOLD
Color: Orange Trans: Manual Mileage: 113,000 Price: $6000
Has been converted to 2 barrel Weber carburetor. Has had distributor changed from ignition points to electronic ignition. Has new tires on it. Has new clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing and resurfaced flywheel. Has new fuel pump and water pump. Engine has been repainted black with blue valve covers. Car could use a paint job and a tiny bit of body work. Has a slight oil leak. Headliner was removed before I bought the car 2 years ago. Has a crack around the parking brake lever in the floorboard. That’s the only place that there is any problem with the floorboard. It has a dent in one spot of the drivers side rocker panel. Has free-wheel that still works.

VIN 97735001530. Sonett III, owned by Saab enthusiast being sold only due to age (mine not the car) and a cross country move; I am in Austin Texas and the car is in Charlottesville Virginia. The car was restored in Denver about 13 years ago and has NO rust. Original interior with reattached headliner, nice soccer ball wheels (including spare) with very good 145-15 tires. The engine compartment is complete and the 1700cc V4 is all original/stock. All glass is original and in good shape. Original air conditioning is in place except the evaporator which is disconnected and in the boot. Ton Dinh of International Imports in Charlottesville VA just rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the clutch master, reset the timing, and replaced the clutch and brake hoses. He says the car is now ready for the road. The issue with the car is that while it sat at Ton’s shop someone “keyed” it. That is the reason for my low asking price (I was previously offered $6000). Please call Donna or Annie at International Imports in Charlottesville VA for an appointment to see the car (434-972-7222). Call me in Texas to discuss the car or to make an offer (512-943-0667).

- 1968 Saab Sonett II V4 (Posted 9/29/2020)
SOLD
Color: Red Trans: Manual Mileage: Price: $19,500
This 1968 SAAB Sonett, production number 695 of 1,610 produced, was professionally restored over the last 15 years using the best parts available from specialists throughout the USA and Sweden. It was repainted during that time as well in Red. Full documentation and paperwork accompany the car. The engine was built to rally specification, complemented by a rebuilt transmission by Jack Lawrence of Motor Sport Service who recently passed. Anyone who knows Jack or MSS knows he is a perfectionist and his work is as much art as it is mechanical perfection. This car is an example of his artistry. Performance specifications estimate the power to be rated at 135 bhp. Rebuild included a larger 1700 cc engine, ISKY F66 camshaft, oversized pistons, bored and honed engine block, Weber 32/36 DGAV 2 barrel carb and intake manifold. This is a fast and fun Sonett with no needs, just gas and go!
