Return Travel Day 2 - Monday Aug 16th
Sheila, Paul, Don, Dave, and I met for breakfast at 7AM and headed off to Arches National Park. Paul parked the 900-93 in the parking lot and Sheila joined me in the 900 and Paul went with David in the Aero as we toured the park. Yep, the whole area kept reminding me of the Road Runner and Wiley Coyote scenes.
We left Arches at 10AM and made our way through Utah. As we made the transition
from I15 to 215 (heading to 80), a black Saab 99 passed us. A few moments
later I noticed him on the side of the road. He was hanging out of his
window with a camera. The best part of my story is the morning after I
got home, the following photo from Rhett Longman was in my emailbox.
We arrived in Elko and enjoyed some Basque food before calling it a night.
Return Travel Day 2 - Monday Aug 16th We met again at 7AM for breakfast and then made excellent time to Reno. West
of Elko, a good portion of land had been charred from wildfires.
We stopped at the Silver Legacy for some seafood and then made our way down
the hills into Sacramento (100 degree temps) and finally into the Bay Area
(65 degree temps) where we went our separate ways.
All in all, I'm very glad I decided early on that I would make the trip this year. The convention was well organized and a lot of fun.
