My Saabs:

1974 99 EMS

About Me:

I fellow work friend turned me onto SAABs back in the early 80s. I have been a SAAB fan ever since. In the mid 80s I purchased my first SAAB, a 1974 99 EMS. It was only about 10 years old when I bought it. I was in fantastic shape! I came to love that car and it's little SAAB quirks. At the time it was so differnt than every thing else and it was built like a tank. I remember that I had to remind every single passenger that even though the door was heavy, they didn't need to slam it shut because it was so well balanced and that it closed very easily. I drove it for 4 years. The engine actually blew up on I95 in New York on the way to pick up my girlfriend at the airport. That was the end of the EMS. Looking back I should have kept it instead of junking the car. Over the years I could have rebuilt the damaged parts and end up with a great drivers car. I have been searching for a replacement EMS ever since.
